As I look back at breeding LaManchas for over 25 years, there are several animals that have proven beneficial and have made an impact on the quality and continued success that the herd enjoys today. Following are tributes to the two most influential herd sires as well as the four foundation does whose descendants comprise the current herd.

++*B Quixote Shyla's Xcelsior

Sire: ++*B Lucky Star's QA Wisdom
     SS: GCH ++*B Quixote Shalla's Alladin
     SD: GCH Lucky Star Mel's Tinsel 1*M

Dam: GCH Quixote's Shyla 3*M
     DS: ++*B Mas Que Nada Marcello
     DD: GCH Ananda Hills Shalla*M

DOB: March 1986

++*B Quixote Shyla's Xcelsior was purchased when the herd was relatively young to bring some consistency and increased production to the original does that were of varying styles and types. He is genetically strong for these qualities as he is closely bred on the Ananda Hills doe line which feature permanent champion, top ten does that can reproduce those same qualities. The Xcelsior daughters are particularly strong in general appearance and dairyness. They have strong pretty heads, are upstanding, sharp withered, long and level in the back, wide and flat in the rump, strong on feet and legs with mammary systems that are correct in shape, capacity and overall area of attachment. They are slow maturing, don't look their best until they are aged does, but then retain that strength, style and showability into their teen years where they remain extremely competitive for Best in Show honors. He has at least 12 permanent Champion offspring, many of whom appraise EX, including Yolanda, a two-time Canadian National Champion as well as granddaughter Ca-Zing, the 2001 ADGA National Champion.

Hammerich's Zeba's Lexus

Dam: CH Hammerich's Alex's Zeba

Sire: Hammerich's Nova's Cassanova
     SS: ++*B Haute Caprine Voyager's Nova
     SD: CH Hammerich's Alex's Blanca

Dam: GCH Hammerich's Alex's Zeba 1*M
     DS: GCH ++*B ME's Ranch Tessa's Alex
     DD: Quixote's Marissa

DOB: February 1998
LA: 3-07 VG87 VE+

Hammerich's Zeba's Lexus was brought into the herd to compliment the Xcelsior daughters. If there was ever one doe in the breed that I could select a son of to use in my breeding program, it was his dam, Zeba, the 1992 ADGA National Champion and 1990 Reserve National Champion for her style and balance, dairyness, structural correctness and beautiful mammary system. The Lexus daughters are exhibiting this same style being long bodied, level, smoothly blended with strong mammary systems. Lexus himself was a "black and tan," very tall and upstanding, sharp and angular and correct in overall general appearance. Unfortunately he was lost at a very young age, but I look forward to more generations of Lexus offspring in the future by AI.

GCH +*B Brookwood Xcelsior Jansen

     DS: ++*B Yazz Magic Dragon
     DD: GCH Mt. Olympus Silver's Santuzza 1*M

Jansen is a most impressive buck with tremendous masculinity and outstanding general appearance. He is uphill with a strong head, very smooth in the front end with a long and level topline that ends in a beautiful wide flat rump. He is strong on feet and legs with straight forelegs, ideal angulation to the rear legs and with strong pasterns and correct feet. He has tremendous power and strength with alot of width throughout and a nice high, wide escutcheon. He is a very stylish and impressive animal and has amassed at least 20 Best in Show wins. He has been awarded the coveted "Best Buck in New York State" award an unprecedented four times! Jansen was also named 2003 ALC All-American Aged Buck, as well as ALC Supreme All-American buck! Shown four times in 2004, Jansen has been 4 times BOB and 4 times BIS.He is the littermate to CH Jantzen and full brother to CH Haberdasher. He has several beautiful daughters including CH Brookwood Jansen Limerick who have inherited the same desirable qualities from their sire.

GCH Brookwood Xcelsior Yolanda 2*M

Sire: ++*B Quixote Shyla's Xcelsior
     SS: ++*B Lucky Star's QA Wisdom
     SD: GCH Quixote's Shyla 3*M

Dam: Snyder's SSC Tawny 1*M

     DD: Shallow Brook Butter Cookie

DOB: March 1987

GCH Brookwood Xcelsior Yolanda 2*M  EX91 was an integral part of the herd for many years. She died in October 2003 at the age of 16 1/2 years still with the energy and beauty of a doe 1/3 her age. While finishing her championship as a milking yearling, she retained the strength, style and beauty to continue winning Best in Show honors until she was retired from the show ring at the age of 14 years. She was a two time Canadian National Champion and Best Udder winner, the very first ALC Supreme All-American, placed high at several ADGA National Shows and won Best in Show honors at many large fairs throughout her lifetime and was 7 times Grand Champion at the New York State Fair. She was also the dam of two Spotlight Sale consignments. Her daughter, GCH Brookwood Harlequin Kasey 3*M VG89, sired by ++*B Me's Ranch Dutch Harlequin was one of her best daughters. Yolanda was a joy to breed, own, milk and show and is the type of doe I will continue to strive to breed in the future.

Daughter: GCH Brookwood Harlequin Kasey 3*M
LA: VG89

GCH Secret Ravine Supreme's Diamond 4*M

Sire: ++*B Coastside Voyager
     SS: *B Starsong Satins Saturn
     SD: GCH Coastside Sandpiper  3*M

Dam: Secret Ravine Dawns Supreme 3*M
     DS: +*B Secret Ravine Dawn's Big Boy
     DD: Tiffany Tammy's Dawn 2*M

DOB: March 1984
LA: 8-05 VG87 +EEV

GCH Secret Ravine Supreme's Diamond 4*M VG88 was my first permanent champion and was a top show doe in her time including a Grand Champion win at the New York State Fair. She was a powerful doe with alot of body capacity, strong feet and legs and a well attached mammary that was particularly high and wide in the rear. This is another long lived line as Diamond lived to be 14 and her first daughter, GCH Brookwod Xcelsior Cameo 5*M VG89, died in the spring of 2003 at 12 years. Diamond's son, and Cameo's littermate brother Canisius, was the sire of the 2001 National Champion, CH Hogg's Hideaway Ca-Zing. Diamond herself had at least two permanent champion full sisters and was very closely related to the notable buck, GCH ++*B Secret Ravine Voyager's Nomad.

Daughter: GCH Brookwood Xcelsior Cameo 5*M

GCH Clover Meadows Firenza S 5*M

Sire: ++*B Redwood Hills Silverado
     SS: GCH ++B Redwood Hills J Chickory
     SD: GCH Tomahawks D Shazam

Dam: GCH Mt Olympus M Fanesta 4*M
     DS: *B Quixote Colette's Maurice
     DD: GCH Mt Olympus Tango's Fandango 3*M

DOB: March 1989
LA: 5-05 VG88 VVVV

GCH Clover Meadows Firenza 5*M VG88 was a tremendously strong doe that had alot of dairyness and strength in general appearance. She had a beautiful globular mammary system that was well attached with a strong medial and ideal teats, but a case of mastitis put an end to a promising show career. She tended to produce a preponderance of bucks, but did have a few beautiful daughters that have gone on to achieve permanent champion status.

GCH Mt Olympus Silver Santuzza 1*M

Sire: ++*B Redwood Hills Silverado
     SS: GCH ++B Redwood Hills J Chickory
     SD: GCH Tomahawks D Shazam

Dam: Mt Olympus IA Agnes Sorel
     DS: Mt Olympus Ignatius
     DD: Mt Olympus S Ambrosia

DOB: April 1987
LA: 7-04 VG88 VVVV

GCH Mt Olympus Silver Santuzza 1*M EX90 was the foundation for my most successful and most numerous doe line through her daughter, GCH Ron-Dac Farm Shadow 2*M, who was the dam to three Grand Champion Excellent offspring. Santuzza was a very stylish, deep bodied doe with an extraordinary mammary. The length and capacity of the fore udder was outstanding. She was several times Best in Show, but the highpoint of her show career was being selected 1st place Aged Doe/1st udder at the 1997 National Show. Her daughter Shadow was one of my all-time favorites and was a beautiful doe who achieved permanent champion status, but unfortunately was lost very unexpectedly at a very young age.

Daughter: GCH Ron-Dac Farm Shadow 2*M
